more on feeling okay

in the face of radical awareness of global crises and injustice, it can feel impossible to be true that our own embodied okayness matters. i believe it does. many years ago i was studying with a teacher who would say, having the ability to build meditation practice into your life is a privilege and that means it is even more important that you do it, for yourself, and for all the humans living in a state of stress and suffering that makes a daily practice impossible.

why?

because humanity is inherently compassionate when awake, and our current systems and rulings lack the signature of that compassion. a pathway to a world radically different than the one we currently fight with may not be just legislating against war, oppression and injustice - but awakening into the state of being where these would not be considered as an option.

your capacity to imagine and co-create change in our world is related to your own felt sense of “okayness.” partially this is being in right relationship with your parts, or operating system. partially this is knowing how and when it makes sense to do nervous system regulation work to signal safety. from a system that is calm, open and perceptive we get creative genius and sustainable energy to move in growth and change. from a system under stress we get stress response.

neither of these is inherently wrong. if you are in stress you are not required to figure out how to resolve that state before making decisions. but if you are in a situation that allows you the space to practice into regulation and open awake awareness, inherently human compassion state, you deserve to do that to help you be of greater service to yourself and your local communities. each pod creating community change creates momentum for more pods, a growth of pod support systems created within existing community bases can reach out and make contact with one another - building networks for sustainable, long term, global, radical, change.

if your eyes are locked on one crises, obsessed with discerning right from wrong, you might be less able to attend to both your existing communities needs, and the broad based strokes that change acceptable cultural norms and practices from the roots up.

so, you actually still deserve to feel good, even when other humans are suffering.

at soyala we are doing what we can to create practice opportunities to help support our existing and growing community to learn nervous system support and awareness shifting practices, as well as parts work. this is because we truly believe these tools and practices can shift us into our awakened nature, which is resourced and creative in ways to approach suffering and injustice both internally and in our worlds.
